Penny-pinching New Yorkers now have one less excuse for missing Jon Stewart’s upcoming Rally to Restore Sanity. Last night on The Daily Show, Arianna Huffington announced that she would be providing transportation to Washington, D.C. for the Oct. 30 event. “We have as many buses as people to fill them,” she said.
The rally, which is set to take place in the shadow of the Washington Monument, is Stewart’s response to Glenn Beck’s Restoring Honor rally held on the mall Aug. 28. The Daily Show host posted the event’s mission statement on its website:
Think of our event as Woodstock, but with the nudity and drugs replaced by respectful disagreement; the Million Man March, only a lot smaller, and a bit less of a sausage fest; or the Gathering of the Juggalos, but instead of throwing our feces at Tila Tequila, we’ll be actively *not* throwing our feces at Tila Tequila.
Presumably, riders on the Huffington Post bus could make use of the transportation to attend that day’s rival rally: Stephen Colbert’s “March to Keep Fear Alive.”
Ms. Huffington said the buses would leave from Soho, and that other details are forthcoming.
