This summer Scholastic announced that it had recouped its losses from the last fiscal year and is taking its 60-year-old Book Clubs program, whereby children order books from flimsy paper catalogues, to Web 5.0., The Times reports.

Scholastic has heavily renovated its online ordering option, called COOL (Clubs Ordering Online) and will soon offer a Facebook page for teachers. They're also partnering with Teach for America.

The article hypes the company's Twitter feed, which is currently promoting the fact that Book Clubs "has the 1st book to be published on the oil spill in the gulf." Childhood reading has never been more fun!

The club offers books that aren't published by Scholastic, in addition to the many ones that are. Already a top-seller for the fall season? Freedom.
