Festival founder Kyle Bergman (no relation to Ingmar -- we think) told WNYC the idea is to get away from the typical conception of architecture films -- a ton of cool buildings like Blade Runner and AI -- and instead to feature films that focus on design itself. "The focus of the festival is to talk about the creative spirit of architecture and design," Bergman said. "It's a great opportunity for the professional community and those interested in it to come together in a fun and educational way."

Hopefully that doesn't sound too boring, as there are a number of reviting, yes riveting, films on offer, including a beautiful biopic about the unparalleled photographer Julius Shulman, a heartbreaking one about gentleman designer and poverty architect Samuel Mockbee, even one about an aluminum chair.
