Cunningham and Ruiz head back to tortured caucus

The Senate Democratic caucus prepared to re-enact the “get ahold of yourself” scene from “Airplane” this afteroon with state Sen. M. Terera Ruiz (D-Newark) and state Sen. Sandy Cunningham (D-Jersey City) seated and ready to take on a line of caucus members intent on punishing them for bad-mouthing last week’s Legislative Oversight Committee testimony of fired Department of Education Commissioner Bret Schundler.

Now sources say state Sen. Brian P. Stack (D-Union City) is also getting an earful, right along with Ruiz and Cunningham.

Stack initially refused to vote in favor of grnting the senate Legislative Oversight Committee subpoena powers to question Schundler. He didn’t want to jeopardize his relationship with Gov. Chris Christie and the home office, which hardly wanted more headlines on how the administration blew a shot at $400 million in federal education reform dollars.
