David Carey Accepts Cover of the Year Award For Harper’s Bazaar Twilight Issue

Yesterday at the American Magazine Conference at the Fairmont hotel in Chicago, David Carey accepted a Cover of the Year award from the American Society of Magazine Editors.

Mr. Carey, president of Hearst’s magazine division, said that he wasn’t that surprised by the win. “I knew it had a good chance of winning because, for the last year or so, it’s been on the bulletin board of my 17-year-old daughter, who is a huge fan of Robert Pattinson,” he told the crowd.

The cover, which was shot by Mark Seliger, appeared on the December 2009 issue of Harper’s Bazaar. Amazon customers cast votes to decide the winner. View a slideshow of all the contestants here.
