Senate approves Haines for judgeship

The Senate moments ago unanimously approved state Sen. Phil Haines (R-Mount Holly) for a superior court judgeship.

“We are saddened to see Sen. Haines depart,” said Senate Minority Leader Tom Kean, Jr. (R-Westfield). “But we are heartened to see this opportunity for you and we know the citizens of Burlington County will be better served.”

“It was a pleasure to actually know we are voting on. Sen. Haines is a true gentleman and a statesman,” said Sen. Nick Scutari (D-Linden), chair of the judiciary committee.

Haines’s departure from the senate jars loose Assemblywoman Dawn Marie Addiegoo (R-Evesham), who is expected to be the next senator in the 8th Legislative District.
