For decades, Vito Lopez has built a housing and social service empire in his home district of Bushwick, and despite numerous allegations of corruption over the years, the Kings County Democratic Party boss and powerbroker has managed to negotiate the political and media worlds generally unscathed. All of that changed a few weeks ago, when both the Post and the Daily News got him in their sights. Now new reports about the extent of Lopez’s backroom deals and melding of his not-for-profit legacy with his political post seem to come out every day.
