Good news, online media: Nielsen Media Research’s web analytics have been stiffing top websites five percent of their unique visitor counts, Ad Age reports. A memo sent out to Nielsen clients yesterday says that social gaming sites were most impacted.
This announcement follows last week’s more significant error, a 22 percent underestimation of how much time people spend online, caused by the super long, Facebook-generated URLs jamming the system. We can only deduce that Farmville is to blame for both errors.
Nielsen says the numbers will be correct for December stats, which come out in early January–just in time to update your ad rates for the new year.
