More Jews live in the five boroughs than any city in the world, with the exception of Tel Aviv. A similar boast can be made for designers, that Gotham has more architects, creative directors, artisans and artists than any other metropolis.

It follows, then, that when the festival of lights comes around each year, no regular Chanukiah will do. Herewith are The Observer’s favorite designer menorahs, just in time for the first night of Chanukah, which begins tomorrow at sundown.
