The rumored layoffs at Yahoo don’t seem to be affecting the growth of the company’s blog operations.

On Friday, Yahoo announced that it will be launch three new blogs next Monday under its 7-month-old news brand The Upshot. Yahoo’s new blogs are The Ticket, which will cover politics; The Lookout, on national affairs; and The Cutline, which will have media industry news.

According to Romenesko, Yahoo poached reporter Joe Pompeo from “Business Insider” to work on “The Cutline.” Pompeo profiled Yahoo’s editor of blogging, Andrew Golis, for “Business Insider” back in March. A total of nine reporters will work on Yahoo’s “Upshot” sites under the supervision of the 27-year-old Golis.

Yahoo news head Mark Walker told CNN that the company had no plans to hire additional reporters any time soon.

“I don’t see us ever hiring the number of reporters as, say, the New York Times or the Washington Post,” Walker said.
