The councilman–a longtime opponent of mayoral control–is planning daily protests outside the Board of Education this week, despite the fact Black has already received the requisite waiver from the state’s education commissioner, David Steiner.

“They think we’re going to have a one-day demonstration, that we’re going to come out in numbers, and they’re going to be in their cool, quiet places, and eating, and sipping whatever they sip, and we’re going to go away,” said Barron, in this video from last week.

While Black’s appointment process would appear to be sewn up–so much so that Black made her television debut yesterday–her most committed opponents remain undeterred. A parent in Park Slope has already filed a lawsuit attempting to block her appointment, and a parent group led by Norman Siegel may join that suit, or file a separate one.

Barron plans to rally Black’s opponents from each borough on a different day this week, and then, perhaps, stage something further uptown.

“Next week, we are telling Steiner, we’re telling Bloomberg, we’re telling Black: Guess who’s coming to dinner?” Barron said in the video. “Because they all live on the Upper East Side, and we’re going to their residence. Y’all ready?
