Jon Stewart devoted nearly his entire show last night to the 9/11 Health Bill, which is now stalled in the Senate.
Yesterday, Susan Collins of Maine expressed support for the measure if the funding source was changed. She would represent the 60th vote, but now that Ron Wyden of Oregon has prostate cancer, supporters are hunting for yet another Republican vote. Among those considered persuadable are Scott Brown of Massachusetts, who served in the National Guard, and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, who is thought to be willing to buck the G.O.P. leadership after they backed her opponent in the 2010 campaign.
