Rachel Sterne’s major qualifications for her new job as New York City’s digital chief seem to be her social media savvy.
But apparently the attention her Facebook page received after her new gig was announced was either too much for Sterne, or didn’t jibe with her position as a public official, because she greatly increased her privacy settings yesterday.
The Wall Street Journal’s Metropolitan blog, in a post that felt a bit personal, wondered if the quotes they took from Sterne’s wall were the reason for the change.
The city declined to comment on that speculation. Not to be deterred, and noticing she is friends with some writers from The New York Times and Daily News, The Journal has now submitted a formal friend request.
Gee fellas, overshare much?
