Longtime New York Post crime reporter Jamie Schram has been named Police Bureau Chief, The Observer has learned.
Schram fills the role that legendary investigative reporter Murray Weiss vacated in June. Weiss left for personal reasons, and has since started writing online for DNAinfo.com.
It’s been a year of departures at the New York Post–including Gregg Birnbaum, Neel Shah, and Maggie Haberman–amid rumors of editor-in-chief Col Allan’s “bullying” management style.
At least the police reporters will be well taken care of–our source says Schram “ramps up the energy of the people he works around.”
