Speculating on star buys before they happen is, as they say, risky business.
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were rumored to have bought one of the penthouses at 200 Eleventh Avenue, but it’s now back on the market.
As of this morning the three-bedroom penthouse in Annabelle Seldorf’s West Chelsea creation is re-listed with Douglas Elliman‘s Herve Senequier and Leonard Steinberg for $12.5 million.
The Kidman-Urban clan will be parking in a lower floor of the “Sky Garage,” according to city records, which show the couple as having bought a fourth-floor unit for $9.6 million. The Observer doubts it was a quibble with the penthouse’s sky-high price tag, because the celeb buyers paid nearly $2.5 million above the asking price for the place downstairs.
They’re not the only celebs who have taken an interest in the building, as Lady Gaga and Kelsey Grammer have kicked the tires, but neither have bought. (Grammer landed next door.) Showing a preference for sky-high garages, Domenic Dolce reportedly bought two penthouse units last year.
The Observer reported just yesterday that Crestview Partners head and former Whitney chair Robert Hurst had bought the other penthouse for $14 million. Were the entertainment power couple just hoping for some splashier neighbors?
