O’Toole wants sewerage commission veto bill posted

Senate Minority Whip Kevin O’Toole urged Senate President Steve Sweeney Tuesday to post for a vote on Jan. 25 a bill that would give Gov. Christie veto power over the actions of the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission.

In the wake of a story Sunday in the Star-Ledger that reported on widespread instances of abuse among commission members – including hiring family members and the awarding of lucrative no-bid consulting contracts – O’Toole urged the bipartisan measure be posted for a vote. It is on second reading in the Senate.

Christie has said he will give members of the commission seven days to justify their actions or likely seek their resignations.
