US Attorney Preet Bharara announced he's promoting one of the lead attorneys who is prosecuting Councilman Larry Seabrook on corruption charges, as well as State Senator Carl Kruger, Assemblyman William Boyland and lobbyist Richard Lipsky in a wide-ranging bribery scheme.

Thirty-three year old Michael Bosworth will now be the deputy chief of the Public Corruption Unit. Bosworth was an assistant US Attorney in the political corruption unit and was part of the team that prosecuted former NYPD Commissioner Bernie Kerik.

Also getting promoted is 35-year-old Brendan McGuire, who will be the chief of the Public Corruption Unit. He's coming over from the Terrorism and Narcotics Unit and will replace Daniel Stein, who is going into private practice.

Bharara takes a lot of pride in this particular unit, recently declaring "No office in the state has pursued public corruption more vigorously, or more successfully, than this office."
