The new DNC political director is Jeff Lerner.
He is tall, well-dressed with fashionably-messed up hair and has a slight southern drawl. More importantly, he has long ties to progressive and labor organizations and is relentlessly positive.
At one point, Lerner had the job of being a spokesman for Andrew Cuomo when he was New York’s attorney general. Which, for the most, was about managing positive and policy-based inquiries. It was while Lerner was the director of communications that Cuomo’s investigations took on national prominence. (There was, of course, this incident.)
Lerner left Cuomo to work with labor groups supporting Obama.
