Chuck Schumer made a football analogy while talking government shutdown on Morning Joe today.
“We are on the one-yard line, but Republicans in the House are making a goal-line stand on women’s health,” he told the hosts.
And Schumer, who has gotten into some trouble with his messaging recently, laid the blame entirely at the G.O.P.’s feet.
“We are doing everything we can to avoid a shutdown,” he said. “When you have ideologues running the show whether they are far right or far left they see things through a narrow little prism and it’s their way or no way and they don’t care about the consequences.”
And Schumer defended his party against those who say they have given away too much.
“We understand the message of the election. People want cutting,” he said.
