Vaynerchuk Fails to Crush It

vaynerchuck condop 0 Vaynerchuk Fails to Crush ItGary Vaynerchuk created a oenophilic empire when he launched his over-the-top Wine Library TV web series five years ago. The show landed him on Conan and Ellen and in Time and The Times. He has written two books since then and had a slew of other successes.

Real estate is not one of them.

Mr. Vaynerchuk and wife Elizabeth have just sold their two-bedroom condop for $1.25 million, according to city records. Five years, or 1,000 webisodes, ago the boozy couple purchased the home at 343 East 74th Street for $1.475 million. On his thousandth episode, Mr. Vaynerchuk mentioned a new baby, so they may have taken the cut to size up-the place closed in 42 days, according to StreetEasy-and at this point money does not appear to be a major concern. Plus there is the matter of childproofing that 750-square-foot terrace.

“Most of the rooms are nondescript, but they had beautiful views and light and exposure,” listing broker Farrah Kleiner of Sloane Square said, adding that the home had been renovated just before the Vaynerchuks bought it, and the listing mentions all the usual suspects-Miele, Subzero, Bose, a Weber grill on the terrace. The wine impresario was out on a book tour for The Thank You Economy and declined to comment.

The buyer is David Banoun, who currently lives on West 185 Street.
