The Frieze Art Fair is indeed coming to New York City!
Frieze founders Amanda Sharp and Matthew Slotover announced in a press release this morning that the fair will have its New York debut May 3 through 6, 2012 on Randall’s Island (better luck next time, Roosevelt Island). The fair will house some 170 galleries and will be designed by the Brooklyn-based SO-IL architect, who built the P.S. 1 party pavilion last summer.
As Observer readers know, my esteemed colleague Michael Miller reported on the rumors surrounding this impending announcement last week and it would seem that they were correct. As Miller says in the piece, “the art world never could keep a secret.”
