Start-Up News: Summer Parties! Plus, GroupMe & Fanbridge

oysters Start Up News: Summer Parties! Plus, GroupMe & FanbridgeSummery/summary news from New York’s start-up scene.

OYSTER REVIVAL., the start-up that flamed out after its model of sending reviewers to photograph and secret shop hotels one-by-one proved hellishly expensive and unscalable AND THEN recently bounced back with new funding and partnership with the Travel Channel, has launched the “first-ever photo-powered hotel search engine.” Oyster Shots “is a seamless way to explore’s quickly growing database of exclusive, high-resolution, undoctored photos of vacation destinations around the world.”

INAUGURAL EAST VILLAGE TECH MEETUP: Betabeat runs into founders and techies in the East Village on the regular and it’s arguably the neighborhood with the richest Foursquare data, so we’re surprised that this never existed before. So no surprised that 71 techies have RSVP’ed. Little worried about the capacity at d.b.a., where the meetup is happening Thursday at 6 p.m., though.

SOUNDS ROMANTIC. Entrepreneur Week, Startup One Stop and ER Accelerator are hosting a “Find a Cofounder Event” and networking party on a “4,000 sq ft private terrace overlooking the Hudson River” July 12th.

MUSIC MANAGEMENT. Fanbridge released a “micro-targeting advertising suite” for bands to selectively target viewers with ads. “During a pilot of the new suite, FanBridge captured a projected return on a $1,000 investment yielding approximately 25,000 combined interactions (song plays, clicks, call-to-action responses, emails collected, etc.),” a rep wrote in an email.

WE ARE NY TECH PARTY. We Are NY Tech is having a party for its first 150 profile subjects on July 7, sponsored by Bing, on the roof of WeWork Midtown.

SMALLER PLATFORMS. GroupMe launched recently demoed a Windows Mobile app, to be released “soon,” at which point Steve Ballmer and Paris Hilton can chat again.

  1. Thanks for mentioning the East Village Tech Meetup. I didn’t expect the inaugural meetup to be so popular, so DBA seemed like a good location. Either way, its a pretty big place and I don’t think we’ll have any trouble invading and taking it over at that time on Thurs.

Overall, I hope the EV Tech Meetup can capture the spirit of SXSW more than your average meetup where 3 companies pitch and then everyone awkwardly tries to network. So d.b.a might b ea good spot for that!

  2. This is very informative article for me.They lunched the “first-ever photo-powered hotel search engine.”Thanks for the information.I really enjoyed this article while reading.Keep sharing with us.
