In light of Tracy Morgan’s outburst at a comedy club, for which he’s already done the apology routine, claiming his violent fantasy about killing a gay son, we recalled Tina Fey’s speech at the GLAAD Media Awards this year (embedded below!), when her series won a prize for its episode featuring Liz Lemon’s gay cousin. Ms. Fey thanked the gay-advocacy group for its “sense of humor.”
“Jokes are tricky things, and what makes a joke funny is the context it’s in and the intention behind it,” said Ms. Fey. Too true! (And Alec Baldwin’s Tweet today, “Oh that Tracy,” indicates that the cast and crew may just be used to Mr. Morgan’s, er, “zany” humor.) “The thing that I’m most proud of about the show is that it’s a truly diverse, inclusive, and positive workplace,” Ms. Fey said at the time.
