In the Arena, formerly known as Parker Spitzer and as the CNN star vehicle that would bring Eliot Spitzer back into the good graces of Americans, was canceled today. It premiered on October 4, 2010.

“Ask Ashley,” in which onetime gubernatorial good-time gal Ashley Dupre answers readers’ questions in the pages of the New York Post, runs, unabated, weekly (this past weekend’s installment began: “I had a one-night stand with one of my friends and now my period is late”). It began in December 2009. Does anyone even still remember why this woman is famous, in the waning days of Client 9’s fame?

If only this media-savvy pair had stayed together, the interest in In the Arena might have been there, and they might have made The Observer‘s Media Power Couples List. :: @DPD_
