Prince Albert and Charlene Wittstock

How would it feel to have a royal wedding just two months after the William and Kate’s fete of the century? Just ask Monaco’s Prince Albert and his new bride Charlene Wittstock.

The civil wedding took place this afternoon in the tiny principality. The religious ceremony will be held tomorrow before an intimate gathering of 3,500 guests in the grand courtyard of the Prince’s palace.

The festivities began last night, however, with a musical performance by The Eagles. The lavish entertainment continues this evening following the couple’s civil nuptials. According to the wedding’s official website, “A big concert will be laid on by the royal couple in Port Hercule. Jean-Michel Jarre will stage a unique son and lumière show.” We’re not exactly sure what a son and lumière show is, but it sure sounds fun.

Although tomorrow the couple will drive a hybrid Lexus along the royal wedding route, BMW France has provided the Prince with “a fleet of 200 7 Series limousines for the wedding.”

Although Kate Moss’ nuptials held earlier today boasted a host of A-List celebrities, the Monaco royal wedding has Mosstock beat by way of royalty and heads of state. French President Nicholas Sarkozy will join the King of Spain, the President of Ireland, Princesses Madeline and Victoria of Sweden and a multitude of other glamorous nobles for the ceremony tomorrow. Mr. Charles Rivkin, the current US Ambassador to France the United States will attend on behalf of President Obama.
