We have seen you all on the subway reading A Song of Ice and Fire, so we know that you care that late last night on his personal (not a) blog George R. R. Martin (or GRRM, as his fans call him) announced the casting of the character Brienne for the second season of Game of Thrones on HBO.

The winner is... Gwendoline Christie, a blond giantess who measures 6-foot-3 in flats.

EW describes her character this way: "Brienne isn’t physically a very flattering character in the books, described as a large and piggish-looking woman with an awkward personality who’s mocked as 'Brienne the Beauty.'"

Television being television, Ms. Christie is actually quite pretty, but we know they'll make her that strange television version of "unattractive" even if they can't put glasses on her. She joins Tudors star Natalie Dormer, who will be playing Margaery Tyrell.
