bulldog Tumblr Shamelessly Leverages Adorable Bulldog to Introduce a Big Photo Feature Upgrade

Such a good boy!

David Karp didn’t get Tumblr’s pageviews to look like a hockey stick by following the pack. So rather than cleave the internet’s affinity for cat photos, Tumblr decided to go its own way and introduce a big upgrade to its Photosets feature using Mr. Karp’s irresistible English bulldog, Clark. In a post today on its staff blog, Tumblr’s creative director Jacob Bijani outlines all the new controls now available on Photosets. To illustrate all the “high-res glory,” Mr. Bijani uses a set of squee-worthy images from Clark’s “harrowing bulldog walk” through the picturesque, tree-lined streets of New York.

For Facebook users who’ve defaulted to using the social network as a glorified photo storage unit, the upgrade is certainly compelling. As Mr. Bijani explains:

Some moments deserve more than one angle. That’s why we’re ecstatic to give Photosets a huge upgrade today, giving you new levels of control to tell your stories the way you want to.

1) Photoset photos now open in all their high-res glory on the Dashboard and on your blog.

2) You can now pick a layout for your photos to tell the right story.

3) Tumblr Themes can now make Photosets look and work any way you please with a host of new theme variables.

Sorry, we were trying to pay attention, but it’s hard when you’re in the middle of plotting a dognapping.

Too lame even for me.  How about this:  The advertising budget wouldn’t support Boo, apparently.

You mean Bo, the Obama dog? Beast, Zuckerberg’s dog, still kills me. We are friends on the Facepage.

No, I mean Boo.  Kicks and some of the other DIs are big Boo fans.
