Happy Birthday Staten Island!

Staten Island turns 350 today.

Mayor Bloomberg will pay a visit this evening and the Empire State Building will be orange, white and blue, the borough’s colors. It started in 1661 with 19 families of French, Belgian and Dutch descent and it’s still going strong. To celebrate, why not watch Martin Scorsese’s Who’s That Knocking At My Door? where a young Harvey Keitel tries to pick up a girl on the Staten Island ferry? Or you could visit the Historic Richmond Town if you’re feeling adventurous. Maybe you’re stuck at your desk.
