Mauro DiPreta Leaves HarperCollins for Crown Archetype

In today’s personnel move at HarperCollins, Mauro DiPreta is departing HarperCollins imprint It Books for Crown, a division of Random House, Inc. Mr. DiPreta will become editor-in-chief at Crown Archetype, the imprint launched by Crown last year to “bring together authors who lead the way in the health and wellness, personal finance/career, celebrity, and pop culture categories.”

The imprint’s mission is similar to that of It Books, where Mr. DiPreta was associate publisher under Carrie Kania. Ms. Kania is also departing HarperCollins at the end of the month to work as an agent at Conville & Walsh in London. Cal Morgan was named as publisher of It Books to replace her last week.

While at It Books, Mr. DiPreta acquired books by writers such as Justin Halpern (author of Sh*t My Dad Says), Steven Adler (the former drummer of Guns N Roses) and Lior Suchard (described on Publisher’s Marketplace as a “supernatural entertainer and mentalist”).
