It seems that Lulu Wang and husband Anthony Wang have a brand-new place to hang their hats… Or racing helmets. The couple, who enjoy racing their vintage European cars in Connecticut, have purchased the penthouse at 970 Park Avenue.
The triplex will have plenty of room for the couple, but probably not enough room for their “babies,” as Ms. Wang reportedly refers to their cars. But who knows? Maybe the beloved vehicles will get portraits in the new home? There will certainly be a lot of wall space to fill in the new 5,000-square-foot spread.
According to a listing by Warburg agents Linda Reiner and Lisa Deslauriers, the “5-bedroom, 5.5 bath mansion in the sky which represents every New Yorker’s dream,” and is topped with a spacious terrace overlooking the city. The triplex was created 25 years ago, according to the brokers, and is on the market for the first time. Neither Ms. Reiner nor Ms. Deslauriers could immediately be reached for comment.
Ms. Wang, a financier, and Mr. Wang, the former president of Computer Associates International, paid dearly for the new pad, however. City records show the home went for $21.93 million, only slightly less than the initial $22 million asking price. According to StreetEasy, the apartment hit the market in mid-May of this year and had entered contract by late June. It seems the Wangs knew what they wanted!
According to Curbed, the penthouse was sold by media mogul Robert Englander, and although he used an LLC his name appears on the property deed.
