pierre Yankees Double A Team Owner Scores $1.95 M. at The Pierre

The CEO of mega-insurance brokerage Willis Holdings has sold a holding of his own. Joe Plumeri, who made headlines last year when he purchased a new apartment at The Stanhope for $21 million, has sold a much smaller home at The Pierre.

The intrepid businessman, who also owns the minor league Trenton Thunder, is a member of the Italian American Hall of Fame (yes, that exists, and no, DJ Paulie D is not a member—yet). He unloaded his Pierre pad for a paltry $1.95 million, city records show. The deed lists the Stanhope as Mr. Plumeri’s current address.

The one-bedroom, 1.5-bath apartment was sold by Sally Hallows of Brown Harris Stevens. In her listing Ms. Hallows notes that the apartment’s “inviting gallery opens to a spacious south facing living room with oblique park views.” Doesn’t have quite the same allure as the 5-bedroom, 7.5-bath place at the Stanhope, does it?

But will Mr. Plumeri’s former home at the Pierre have a full-time resident? In her listing Ms. Hallows claims that the apartment would make “a perfect home away from home,” broker speak for pied à terre. The buyer is the international-man-of-mystery-sounding Juan del Azar.
