The New York Observer has hired a new reporter, Drew Grant, editor in chief Elizabeth Spiers announced today.
Drew was most recently a staff writer at Salon, covering television, film and pop culture. Previously, she was the deputy editor of the B5 Media blog Crushable. She has written for Nerve, McSweeney’s, The Huffington Post and Street Carnage, among others.
“Drew’s a whip-smart, agile writer with a fantastic sense of humor. Her sensibilities and style will be great additions to the New York Observer,” Ms. Spiers said.
“I’m excited to work once again under Elizabeth Spiers,” Ms. Grant said. “The New York Observer is a phenomenal paper, and I’m thrilled to be joining this talented staff of writers.”
Ms. Grant is prolific satirist whose work includes “Alec Baldwin Launches His Mayoral Campaign,” “A Day in the Life Of A Manic Pixie Dream Girl,” and a fan fiction series “Baby-Sitters’ Club’ by Bret Easton Ellis.”
She begins September 12.
