Paul Roth, who left the Corcoran Gallery, in Washington, D.C., near the end of 2009 to become director of the Richard Avedon Foundation, is returning to the museum as senior curator and director of photography. Artforum spotted the news, which was first reported by Kristen Capps of The Washington City Paper.
“Although I knew it might seem strange to others that I would return to a place I had left, it made sense to me,” Mr. Roth told the paper, saying that he missed his work as a curator.
Corcoran curator Amanda Maddox recently moved to the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, opening the way for Mr. Roth’s return. At the Corcoran, Mr. Roth will teach in its art and design classes as well as organize shows.
