Commission announces 10 percent health care premium increase for education employees

TRENTON – The state Health Benefits Commission today approved an average 10.3 percent increase for premiums on medical insurance for education employees.

The percent rate hikes for the medical plans NJ Direct10, NJDirect15, Aetna HMO and Cigna HMO are 10 percent for active employees, 10.5 percent premium hike for early retirees, and 2 percent for Medicare retirees.

The prescription card plan calls for an overall 12.5 percent increase.
