Over the summer, ex-Deutche Bank executive Michael Cohrs and his wife bought a giant Tribeca loft at 92 Laight Street, spending $11.5 million for the 3,838-square-foot loft. It looks like some walls will soon fall in the building, as the Cohrs have purchased another unit on the same floor for $5.7 million.
Added to the massive space they bought over the summer, the new three-bedroom, four-bath apartment leaves the Cohrses with a pad of palatial proportions. By our tally, the couple now have six bedrooms and 8.5 baths spanning 6,500-square-feet on the twelfth floor of the highly coveted River Lofts development. In total, they have spent $17.25 million on the two apartments, almost double what Meryl Streep paid for her 6,174-square-foot penthouse in 2006.
As if the couple didn’t already have everything they could possibly want in an apartment (the original place they bought comes with a private gym, built-in water filtration and a conch shaped powder room!), the couple finally has somewhere to put all their art! According to a listing from Halstead broker Richard Orenstein, the home includes “a gracious entrance gallery—ideal for displaying your art collection.” Better yet, the master suite features “an enormous Dressing room rivaling Bergdorfs.” Perhaps the Cohrses are planning on opening a department store in their new spread?
The Cohrses bought the apartment from neighbor Matthew Salvner, a banker with BNP Paribas. He purchased the apartment in 2005 for $3.12 million, city records show. Nice investment.
