The New Museum is raising its admission price from $12 to $16 because of the “unprecedented attendance” of Carsten Höller’s popular exhibition Experience. The museum says the price hike is going towards paying the extra staff needed to attend to the guests going down that big slide and immersing themselves in that creepy primordial soup-ish sensory deprivation chamber.
NewYorkology broke the news of the price increase. The museum’s communications director, Gabriel Einsohn, told the website the increased cost “is most likely not a permanent increase.” But who knows? Maybe the museum will like all the extra money coming in.
