Jeffry Fox, president of the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Bergen County Branch 425 today announced the NALC’s endorsement of U.S. Rep. Steve Rothman in the 9th Congressional District.
Representing approximately 500 letter carriers in Bergen County, NALC Branch 425 voted unanimously on January 10 to support Rothman., who’s in a Democratic Primary dogfight with U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell.
“Steve Rothman is our Congressman and has always supported issues affecting the lives of letter carriers and their families. We are committed to working for Congressman Rothman in the Democratic Primary and will mobilize the full resources of Branch 425 in support of his campaign,” said Fox.
“I am honored to have received support from the fine men and women of NALC Branch 425. It is their hard work and dedication that for years has been the foundation of communication and commerce in the United States,” said Rothman. “I am proud to stand with organized labor and will continue to support the values of working families.”
Founded in 1889 to represent postal workers, NALC is a charter member of the AFL-CIO since 1919. Branch 425 represents city letter carriers in New Milford, Bergenfield, Teaneck, Hackensack, South Hackensack, Teterboro, Bogota, Hasbrouck Heights, Maywood, Leonia, Little Ferry, Ridgefield Park, Fort Lee and Edgewater.
The National Association of Letter Carriers Local 120 endorsed Rothman’s rival, Pascrell.
