M.I.A., she who had truffle fries forced upon her by Lynn Hirschberg but who prefers chewing over her terrorist sympathies, is about to blow our minds again with a re-emergence following the disappointing ///Y/. (She’d been missing in action for a year or so!) Her new video, “Bad Girls” (would be very Donna Summer, if “bad” wasn’t confusingly politicized as a term here, we’re sure) is to debut next Tuesday. It’s directed by the guy who made her outre video wherein redheaded children are hunted down and assassinated, but–regression to the pop-star mean alert!–produced by the ultra-pop Danja. (Her previous creative partner, Diplo, likely alienated M.I.A. with unflattering remarks in Ms. Hirschberg’s profile.)
Danja was previously involved with Madonna’s Hard Candy album along with Britney Spears’s “Gimme More”–and M.I.A. is engaged on Madonna’s upcoming comeback single, too. Political cred can’t be as nice as pop-star dollars!
