Assembly Minority Conference Leader Dave Rible (R-30) said the Democrats’ efforts to move marriage equality amount to their insistence on frontburning an issue that does not have significance for most New Jerseyans.
But he thinks it’s even worse than that.
“It’s a slap in the face to the guy on the unemployment line right now for us to be talking about that issue right now,” Rible told PolitickerNJ.com. “I don’t even think the Democrats have the votes to get that passed in the Assembly.”
Rible said he supports Gov. Chris Christie’s call to put it on the ballot in November to let the people decide.
“It’s not an issue people are talking about on the train much,” he said.
