Mark Murphy, who announced last week that he’d be taking on GOP Congressman Michael Grimm, has an entire set of movies and shows he’s been in, including some with distinctly retro looks.
The Staten Island Advance first noted the Congressional candidate’s relatively sizable filmography stretching from 1993 to 2001. Mr. Murphy’s acting résumé is diverse enough to include the redneck-friendly The Dukes of Hazzard: Reunion! and Sweetwater, a hippie-filled film about Woodstock.
Mr. Murphy most recently played tennis pro Jimmy Connors in When Billie Beat Bobby, a 2001 ABC docudrama about the historic 1973 “Battle of the Sexes” tennis match. At the time, the Daily News criticized Mr. Murphy’s character, among others, for “looking and sounding nothing at all” like the actual athlete.
