Sure, what can I do to help?”). But finding the right issue to advocate is easier said than done. The cause can’t be too political (with exceptions for Anna Wintour-hosted Obama fund-raisers), should support both domestic and international initiatives (you’re very diplomatic) and should obviously have A-list celebrity ambassadors and well-attended benefits with ritzy auction items. Following the footsteps of Old Violet Eyes, you settled on amfAR a few years back and have been delighted with your choice. Not only do you get that satisfied feeling for supporting the fight against AIDS, but you get to fraternize with celeb cynosures at the annual New York gala. Tonight you’ll do just that, at the amfAR benefit hosted by Sarah Jessica Parker. As Roberto Cavalli, Caroline Scheufele and the good people of Goldman Sachs are honored (this really is your kind of party! Bank on!), you’ll sip a flute of bubbly and offer a two-fold toast to your table: to a cure for AIDS, and to winning the auction package trip to Monaco!

amfAR annual gala, cocktails
at 6:30 p.m., dinner and program at 7:30 p.m. Cipriani, 55 Wall Street. Tickets, from $1,500, at http://www.amfar.org/spotlight/event.aspx?id=10470.
