Harvey Weinstein

Rumor has it, all of Harvey Weinstein’s endeavors are worth their weight in solid gold. (How else could you possibly explain the wild success of a silent movie starring French actors?) Perhaps this fabled Midas media touch has gone to Mr. Weinstein’s head, as tonight he is throwing his considerable Hollywood weight behind a most improbable project: the prolific producer is hosting the premiere of Lilyhammer, an original series from Netflix. The comedy stars E-Streeter and Sopranos alum Steve Van Zandt as a former New York gangster living in a Norwegian town as part of a witness protection program. The show seems to have all the elements of a great success: a sexagenarian rocker, Scandinavia, Harvey Weinstein’s support … The good news? It can’t possibly be any worse than Smash.
