With pressure mounting from the increasing number of plaintiffs claiming that designer Alexander Wang made then work long hours in hazardous conditions with little regard for their well-being, the fashion icon’s PR team has made their first attempt at a counter-attack.
And no, it wasn’t, “Hasn’t Wenyu Lu heard of what we do to models?” (We wish.)
Regarding the lawsuit filed earlier this month and claims 30 plaintiffs who are demanding $450 million in damages, Mr. Wang’s team has spun the story so that the designer looked like the victim.
As was told to WWD:
“The claims regarding sweatshop conditions are completely untrue. In reality, this case was filed by an individual who was let go by the company as a result of serious harassment issues. We stand by our decision to promote a safe workplace environment for all employees regardless of false claims that may be waged against us in retaliation.”
So now the only question is…who was Ms. Lu harassing, and how did she have the energy to do so after a 15 hour shift in a windowless factory?
