Santi White aka Santigold recently debuted the album art for her sophomore record “Master of My Make-Believe,” which drops May 1. The cover features Ms. White photographed by Jason Schmidt and in a Scarface-esque pose, with a portrait of herself on the wall just behind her. That portrait was done by Kehinde Wiley, whose major show at the Jewish Museum opens next week.
The painting is based on the work Portrait of an Officer by Sir Joshua Reynolds, T: The New York Times Style Magazine reports. It is the artist’s first time using a female subject.
His upcoming show, “The World Stage: Israel,” runs March 9 to July 29 at the Jewish Museum.
