The Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University’s East Lansing campus is shaping up to be quite the institution. The museum announced three new appointments, according to Art Daily: Dr. Wang Chunchen has been named adjunct curator, Marcia Crawley (formerly of the Salvador Dali Museum) will be development director and Dan Hirsch, of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, will serve as curator of performances and public programs.
The collection for the museum ranges from antiquities to more contemporary works by Alexander Calder, Jenny Holzer and Chuck Close. They have a $7 million acquisition fund courtesy of Eli and Edythe Broad. The museum recently acquired Andrew Kuo’s Self-Portrait (Rise and Shine). The building was designed by architect Zaha Hadid.
