Brooklyn Museum’s Karen Sherry Named Curator of American Art at Portland Museum of Art

Karen Sherry, the associate curator of American art at the Brooklyn Museum, is heading north. The Portland Museum of Art, in Portland, Maine, announced that Mr. Sherry will become its curator of American art, beginning on June 26. “Karen brings to Portland great energy and scholarship as well as extensive experience gained at the great Brooklyn Museum,” said Mark H.C. Bessire, the PMA’s director, in a statement.

Among Ms. Sherry’s curatorial credits are “Fine Lines: American Drawings from the Brooklyn Museum,” which is scheduled for 2013; “American Moderns: From O’Keeffe to Rockwell, 1910-1960 (2012) and “Japonisme in American Graphic Arts, 1880-1920 (2008).”
