Elizabeth mayoral candidate Oscar Ocasio today officially filed petitions for June’s Democratic Primary.
“Today is another step in our journey to bring change to city hall,” said Oscar Ocasio, a former director of planning for the city of Elizabeth. “With 618 signatures in-hand, it’s pretty clear that ‘Democrats for Change’ have a groundswell of support behind us.”
Ocasio is challenging incumbent Mayor Christian Bollwage, who formally kicks off his re-election campaign on Wednesday.
Ocasio filed a full ticket under the slogan “Democrats for Change.”
The other candidates running under the “Democrats for Change” slogan include: – Carlos Cedeno for Freeholder – Ana Maria Bercik for Freeholder – Babe Frazier for Freeholder – Frank Mazza for Council At-Large – Josue Anacius for Council At-Large – Camilio Victoria for Council At-Large.
“The diversity of our ticket matches the diversity of this great city,” said Ocasio. “We want our elected officials to look like the people they represent. This ticket does just that.”
“I’m proud to be part of an effort to bring change to a city hall that’s been trapped in a time machine,” said freeholder candidate Cedeno. “This race is going to be different from last year’s race…and by different, I mean that we’re going to win, across the board.”
