As part of the Tate’s “Picasso and Modern British Art” exhibition, which explores the artist’s role and influence on art specifically in Britain, the English National Ballet has created three ballets based on works in the show: The Sculptural Face, The Frugal Meal and (appropriately) The Three Dancers.

The exhibition includes more than 150 works by Picasso and places them alongside British Modernists and Picasso admirers Duncan Grant, Wyndham Lewis, Ben Nicholson, Henry Moore, Francis Bacon, Graham Sutherland and David Hockney.

For your viewing pleasure, here is a short documentary about the making of the three ballets.
