No more reconsidering your impulse buy as you run to the ATM.

Nope, not from our fevered imaginations. (screenshot via etsy.com)

Sometimes, you’re at an art fair and you simply must have that $200 papier-mâché teacup Chihuahua, but you don’t happen to have the cash on you. Well, Square is doing its part to facilitate such transactions. Unfortunately, the company has not announced plans for functionality that would interrupt purchases of anything that deserves to live on Regretsy.

TechCrunch reports that 90 percent of the vendors at Etsy’s New York’s Spring Handmade Cavalcade were using Square, and the technology is expected to make a strong showing this weekend at Unique L.A., an indie fashion market. The company now does around $416 million in payments every month, much of that with small and independent businesses.

As to whether your purchases are in good taste, well, machine learning just hasn’t advanced that far. Sorry.
