Sometimes even your favorite pair of shoes can get a little down at the heels, or pinch in all the wrong places. In short, sometimes you have to dump even the most beloved pair of pumps. And it seems that that time had come for designer duo Sam and Libby Edelman to slip off their duplex penthouse at 133 West 22nd Street.
The shoe superstars have sold their two-bedroom condo for $2.8 million to Chelsea Vista LLC, a little under the $2.95 million ask, according to city records.
We’re not sure what made the Edelmans—who run two eponymous cobbling operations—decided to discard their Chelsea pad. Yet it certainly wasn’t a lack of shoe cubbies. The master bedroom occupies the entire second level and it has two “very large walk-in closets” and “a chic dressing area” with its very own entrance, according to the listing, held by Sotheby’s brokers Christopher Leavitt and the aptly-named Tierney and Leslie Model.
The Edelmans paid $2.3 million to shoe-horn themselves into the sleek new development in 2010. And there was every reason to declare the place a perfect fit: floor-to-ceiling windows, a roof terrace, gas fireplace and sophisticated, glass staircase. But in the end, this wasn’t a Cinderella story.
We suppose that the couple will be staying in their country-chic Connecticut home, admiring each other’s fabulous riding boots until they find a new pied to share.
